Did you know Accessible Dispatch has an outreach team dedicated to spreading the word about the availability of wheelchair accessible taxis in all five boroughs? We caught up with our Community Outreach Coordinator Steven Williams at the recent Senior Health and Financial Fitness Expo, where he engaged with the Brooklyn community to create awareness about Accessible Dispatch’s mission, benefits, and features to get his thoughts on Accessible Dispatch’s growth over the last few years.
Steven, who joined our team in 2014, was part of the expo’s slate of speakers informing attendees on key insights surrounding finances, medical care, legal affairs, and lifestyle-enhancing services. More than 150 attendees and dozens of exhibitors packed the Dyker Beach Golf Course in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn for the event, which focused on promoting senior citizen empowerment.
“Although we’ve been in operation for over seven years, people are often just discovering our service. At these events, I meet caretakers, concerned neighbors, and even healthcare providers who are delighted to know the Accessible Dispatch Program is a reliable transportation option for New Yorkers and visitors with disabilities,” Steven said.
A rehabilitation care provider who was excited to learn about Accessible Dispatch came to our table to express that her clients who rely on public transportation often come several hours late for appointments. “Now she knows that she can help them get there on time by dialing us! We’re a game-changer for families and healthcare professionals,” added Steven.
Every day, Steven travels to medical facilities, schools, senior citizen communities, and other resources that serve seniors and people with disabilities in all five boroughs to spread the word about Accessible Dispatch.
